Celebrate new funding for Barking & Dagenham at creative, online event

Endowment Celebration Event

At the start of what is set to be another challenging year, you’re invited to celebrate the creation of an endowment for Barking & Dagenham at an online event at 5pm on 27th January.

This endowment fund, which will be managed by us at BD Giving, will generate a sustainable source of income for the community to use for causes that matter to them. It reflects the Council’s commitment to partnership working and resident participation. BD Giving exists to improve the way local people and organisations work together by sharing power, building relationships, and creating a platform for local voices to be heard.

On 27th January at 5.30-6.30pm, BD Giving will host a creative online event to celebrate this new opportunity for local people to take a lead on building a stronger B&D for themselves, their families and future generations.

Everyone that has a stake in the borough – whether you live and/or work here – is encouraged to attend the online event, which will feature:

  • Short, creative performances from 5 local groups on the theme “What does Barking & Dagenham look like when we give power to the people?
  • Speeches from the Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, Cllr Saima Ashraf and BD Giving’s CEO, Geraud de Ville de Goyet.

With an initial injection of £800k and additional funds to be made available subsequently, the fund will be invested and added to with the return being made available to local community groups to use for causes that matter to them.

Join us on 27th January to celebrate this significant moment for the people of B&D.
