Give it a Go Fund: Mental Health & Wellbeing recipients

We are excited to announce the ten new grantees of our Give it a Go Fund chosen by our six decision-makers. All ten ideas will help support people in the borough with mental health and wellbeing, in line with the agreed theme for this round of funding.  

Who did we fund?

  • SA Nutrition – Free Nutrition and Healthy Eating courses in six sessions with one focusing on Diet and Mental Health.

  • Mhahr Ltd – Mental health training sessions which focus on Adverse Childhood Experiences and their longlasting impact.

  • BooksBYMILE – Wellness experience at Eastbrookend park combining physical, mental and sensory aspects for a holistic immersive experience

  • Vivify Hub – Using art and food to explore emotional and psychological needs in a group

  • EmpowerUToday – Interactive, creative and movement based sessions to help people with disabilities, SEND, chronic illnesses, and their caregivers with reducing stress and boosting confidence

  • TKO Boxing – Free six-week boxing and wellbeing programme which will provide young people with physical training and mental resilience coaching

  • Deshi Golf – Introducing children from diverse backgrounds, particularly those from the BAME community & further, to the sport of golf

  • TLC Braiding & Beauty Academy –  Space for people who feel isolated and depressed to meet new people and learn new hair braiding and beauty skills

  • Ruxandra Vitale – Free creche service in Barking Riverside

  • Brennan & Burch – Social event with older people to talk about their and celebrate their style through music, pictures and stories.

What next?

Thank you to everyone who applied and everyone involved in the decision-making! 

We have learnt a lot from this round and will be using the learnings from this round and the two other previous rounds to plan how we should run Give it a Go Fund moving forwards. 

The next round of the fund will launch in May 2025. Keep an eye out for opportunities to be a decision-maker or apply for the fund! The best way to stay up to date is by following us on social media or signing up to our newsletter.
