It’s Giving Week!

This Giving Week, 21st – 25th June 2021 we’ve got free training, exciting talks, opportunities to participate, and funding news for you!

We have joined forces with local partners to offer a programme of skills-sharing events to local people and community organisations.

Inspired by the words of Helen Keller, the American author and political activist, and the first Deafblind person to earn a BA degree, the theme of Giving Week is “Together We Can Do So Much”.

Geraud de Ville de Goyet, Chief Executive of BD Giving says:

We’re excited and humbled by the opportunity to host the second-ever Giving Week for the borough. Working with our partners we have created a packed programme of events for local people, community organisations and businesses. Our goal for the Week is to increase our collective capacity to participate in developing a thriving borough for ourselves and future generations.

People living and working in Barking and Dagenham now have a wide range of options to get involved in shaping their neighbourhood and community. From grassroots community action to corporate volunteering, the growing space of participatory initiatives, thematic networks, and infrastructure partnerships, there is something for everyone. Giving Week 2021 is a chance to build the relationships and develop the skills that will keep us on track to create the borough we envisage. Giving Week kicks with an announcement about BD Giving’s new fund
FundA way for people to combine their money and invest together.
for local youth organisations. Sarah Robertson, Managing Director of Future M.O.L.D.S. Communities and member of the B&D Children & Young People’s Network says:

This Giving Week I am proud to announce a new funding process that will share decision making powers with local youth organisations. This pilot aims to address inequality in collaborations and improve partnership working for the benefit of the children and young people in our borough.

Giving Week will close with news of more funding to be made available via BD Giving.
