National Lottery Community Fund Grant Awarded to Grow BD Giving’s Team

Barking & Dagenham Giving is grateful to have been awarded £358,160 over four years by the National Lottery Community’s Reaching Communities Fund for projects that work to make positive changes in their community.

The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund will allow BD Giving to recruit three new posts into the team. The new posts will contribute to building BD Giving’s longer-term sustainability, help develop new services, and increase the diversity of the existing team.

BD Giving is an independent local funder with a simple belief: that people affected by funding decisions should be the ones making those decisions. One way we do that is by making space for people with different experiences and perspectives to come together and participate in making decisions about how funding for the borough is spent. In 2020, we involved over 50 local people in making decisions and distributed over £185,000 to local causes.

With this new funding we aim to bring new perspectives and skills into the staff team to reflect our aims for the borough from the inside out. The roles will be promoted to encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, prioritising those with strong links to the borough or real-life experience of local issues, such as unemployment, low-income, discrimination and other marginalising experiences. Local people are encouraged to look out for the adverts for a Fundraising Manager, Business Engagement Manager and Marketing & Events Officer. If you are interested but uncertain if you have the right skills, contact us for an informal chat at hello@bdgiving.org.uk.
