Give it a Go Fund: Togetherness recipients announced

We are excited to announce ten new recipients of our Give it a Go Fund! A panel of eight residents selected ten ideas to receive a £2,000 grant each:

  • Walk it Out: Empowers women and girls through free activities to improve health and wellbeing, boost confidence and improve safety.
  • Pullums Dance Academy: Dance school in Barking Riverside which wants to run a dance club in February half term.
  • Youth Circle: Project designed to support young people in Dagenham through sports, creative activities and trips.
  • Empower Your Roots: Create new CIC based in Chadwell Heath focused on promoting physical and mental well-being through sports.
  • Siama Rhasia Khatun: Run craft sessions for kids and wellness workshops for mums across the borough.
  • The Magic Stork: Run a small pot of culturally sensitive individual therapeutic sessions for migrant and multicultural communities which can be offered to local organisations.
  • Messy Play: CIC dedicated to supporting young children with SEND through free weekly play groups.
  • Wood Lane Baptist Church: Develop a community allotment in Dagenham to give up to eight families the opportunity to grow their own food.
  • Nice Bunch: Offer social and learning sessions for children and their families, with a focus on, but not exclusive to, families that follow alternative education.
  • S.M.U.N: Create a wellbeing hub for mums of children with SEND, offering workshops focused on mental health, resilience and practical support.

What’s next?

Thanks to everyone who applied and everyone involved in the decision-making. We will share a more detailed update on the decision-making process in a separate news post.

We’ve learnt a lot from this round and will be reflecting and taking this learning forward to improve the next round of the Give it a Go Fund, which will launch in February 2025.

Keep an eye out for opportunities to be a decision-maker or to apply to the Fund! The best way to stay up to date is by following us on social media or signing up to our newsletter:
