Ian Parkes
"The most exciting thing about Barking and Dagenham Giving is the people, the market and Billy Bragg!"
What got you interested in working in Barking and Dagenham?
A convert – I’m completely bought in to the concept of making sure no-one is left behind by all the amazing developments.
What challenges do you think you might face in this role?
We were told that Barking and Dagenham would be one of the most difficult boroughs in which establish a local giving scheme – it’s nice to prove them wrong.
What are your hopes for the borough?
Further building the self-belief and confidence of the residents – this is a great place and more people should know about it.
How do you think the community can help achieve those goals?
The most important role. Every borough has a character and B&D is all about participation by everyone.
