Got an idea that could benefit people in Barking and Dagenham? Check out the Give it a Go Fund!
We are thrilled to launch a brand new
fund
for Barking & Dagenham!
The Give it a Go Fund will provide small
grants
for local people to test out new ideas in the borough.
Eight people were recruited to help design the fund. The group, who all live and work in the borough, met three times to discuss and agree on everything from the name of the fund to the amount to be distributed.
They decided the Give it a Go Fund should provide ten applicants grants of £2,000 for something that fills a gap in the borough. This could be anything from cooking nourishing meals to offering activities for neurodiverse children. We welcome your bold ideas for making positive contributions to the borough.
FundA way for people to combine their money and invest together.
GrantA gift of money with no expectation of paying it back. Sometimes, there are certain ‘conditions’ or requirements attached to the money. In other cases, there are not.
Applicants must:
- have an annual turnover of no more than £50,000;
- be able demonstrate how they could address a gap or niche in the borough; and
- have potential to deliver
social impactSocial ImpactThe positive or negative effect that an individual, organisation or project has on the well-being and welfare of a community or society as a whole.
“The borough we’re working with, they’re an ambitious lot. There’s a desire to be at the cutting edge.”
